  • 13 Even

    2037 Wilton Dr. Wilton Manors

    954-565-8550

13|Even, owned by the same couple that runs landmark lesbian bar New Moon just up Wilton Drive, is more a place to meet friends for drinks and fun than it is a dinner destination. If you get hungry, there is an array of globally inspired, fair-priced small plates such as a bruschetta, three-cheese-stuffed portabella mushrooms and an amped-up macaroni and cheese. Really, though, you come for the more than two dozen craft beers from local and national brewers and for the extensive wine list. On weekends, prepare to wade through two or three rows of people to get to the weathered wood bar, but don't worry. While you wait, you can scope out the cool chairs made of recycled palettes, the black-and-white photos shot by owner Carol Moran, and the foot-tall Elvis figurine striking a pose near some suds.

  • H.G. Roosters

823 Belvedere Rd. West Palm Beach

    561-832-9119

There's an easy-going kitsch permeating the vibe inside H.G. Rooster's, and it shines throughout all the incredible activities set up seven days a week. On Sunday alone, there's a free barbecue on the patio at 5 p.m., male dancers at 6 p.m., and karaoke at 11 p.m. There's bingo on Mondays (affectionately named Sissy Bingo, with prizes in the form of both bar tabs and cash), chicken wings and karaoke (again!) on Wednesdays, and more babely dancers on Fridays. The drink specials all start after 9 p.m. and are bound to get you giddy: buckets of domestic beer are three for $7 on Tuesdays (when the pool tournament starts), all wells and domestics are $2 on Thursdays, and Long Island iced teas and domestic beers are $3 on Saturdays. There's also the occasional Saturday night cabaret - Saturday Night Divas - featuring drag shows and comedy. The place was founded in 1984 by the late Michael "La La" Brown, an AIDS awareness activist and supporter-slash-member of the local gay community. Now it thrives on his mission and soul: Everyone is welcome - and no one is bored.

  • Lips

1421 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Oakland Park Fort Lauderdale

    954-567-0987

You don't go to Fort Lauderdale's Lips to eat but to be eaten: The drag queens and divas who patrol the crowd have a sharp eye for a sweet little morsel like you to chew on, so wear your thickest skin. Dinner shows, with a full three-course menu, are at 8:15 or 8:30 Tuesday through Sunday and offer a different theme each night (Bitchy Bingo on Wednesdays); the popular Gospel Brunch on Sunday plays at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to a mix of straight couples, elderly tourists, bachelorette parties, and gay blades celebrating their birthdays. Continental entrées of steak, chicken, lamb chops, salads, and sandwiches don't rise far above average, but the show is a hoot and worth every penny. Sunday Brunch is the best bargain, with all-you-can-drink mimosas and bloodies.

  • Ramrod

1508 NE Fourth Ave. Fort Lauderdale

    954-763-8219

Leather and light spirits, despite the serious sexual energy and sex-toy shop, make this indoor/outdoor bar a great place to hang out -- or to pick up. Ramrod is basically the "Cheers" of Wilton Manors. There's something intriguing about bear culture that draws people in, whether you're a bear or not. Cub, bear, otter, or anything in between, it doesn't matter; the moment you walk into Ramrod, you can sense a community. In den-like fashion, the bar is dark, there are gargoyle statues everywhere, and they play minimal house music that's so old that it's already on trend again -- but, then again, youâ??re not there for the music anyway.

  • Rosie's Bar and Grill

    2449 Wilton Dr. Wilton Manors

    954-567-1320

Formerly Hamburger Mary's, Rosie's is a mini paradise in the middle of Wilton Manors. Dance music blasts, gay-culture knickknacks litter the walls, colorful lanterns light the outside patio, and a good-looking friendly staff serves your food and drinks with a wink. Dishes have cheeky titles like "Big 'Dicts" (eggs benedict) and "Ivana Hooker." And, in addition to offering one of the best Sunday brunches in the area, Rosie's boasts a seven-hour happy hour. Wake up with buckets of mimosas, then stumble home after half-off beers, wines, and well drinks. You'll leave as cheerful as the décor.

  • The Manor Complex

    2345 Wilton Dr. Wilton Manors

    954-626-0082

Located in the heart of Wilton Manors, this multilevel, medieval-themed megaclub is the place to hit for a long night of dancing, bass-thumping music, and leaving with a bit of body glitter on your skin. Dripping in crystals and filled with cherubs, swirling wallpaper, and pulsating LED lights, the Manor could pass for the Queen of Hearts' royally psychedelic abode. Only instead of an army of human-sized playing cards, expect a legion of drag queens, trannies, and hot shirtless men gyrating in their jockstraps. In the main room, a DJ spinning pop music's greatest hits and EDM is positioned high above the crowd, while disco lights and smoke machines provide that South Beach nightclub feel. The crowd is mostly of the male persuasion and extremely high-energy – you won't catch anyone just lounging around looking for intimate conversation. This wild, anything-goes atmosphere is not for the faint of heart. Weekly events include Bubblegum Fridays and Noche Latina Saturdays, with the occasional high-profile drag show.

  • Twist

1057 Washington Ave., Miami Beach South Beach

    305-538-9478

A mainstay on Washington Avenue for over 15 years, Twist is the mother hen of South Beach gay clubs. Inside the spacious club you'll find seven different bars; a tiki bar, something called a "Frolic Lounge," a salsa room in the bottom floor, and a house music dance floor at the top. Still one of the few places where you can find go-go dancers at midnight on the beach, Twist is open seven days a week from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. It's conveniently located near the popular 12th street gay beach, and the 11th street diner where Will Smith's "Miami" was shot. No cover, and open to 21+ only.
  • Village Pub

    2283 Wilton Dr. Wilton Manors

    754-200-5244

Who doesn't like a good gay bar? If you're female, you get the pleasure of being crammed into one room with an abundance of testosterone that’s not going to molest you as you dance. If you're a gay guy... same opportunity, maybe. Sounds like a great time to me! Village Pub is a good place to relax and have a few beers. It's nestled in the heart of Wilton Manors-a town known for its gay nightlife. They have great drink specials on any given night and live shows as well. They also serve all their mixed drinks with a generous amount of liquor. The gays sure do know how to run a bar!
